Preview of Florida State basketball's 2026-2027 season: roster strengths, key players, preseason insights, and expectations in the ACC.
Florida State basketball charges into the 2026-2027 season with a relentless new identity and a lineup brimming with pace, length, and grit. Senior Anthony Robinson II sets the standard for defensive intensity and floor command, while explosive scorer Kam Taylor and high-flying freshman Martay Barnes bring game-changing speed to the backcourt. Cincinnati transfer Sean Abaev adds three-level scoring and versatility, complemented by frontcourt newcomers Cooper Schwieger and Sebastian Rancik, who promise to make the Seminoles long and formidable in the paint.
With seven-foot freshman Marcis Ponder anchoring rim protection and a roster unafraid of contact, Florida State plans to turn defense into fast-break highlights—all while facing an ACC gauntlet and high-profile non-conference matchups. Perimeter shooting woes persist, but improved free-throw efficiency hints at offensive upside. Can this squad turn its mid-tier tag into an ACC breakthrough? November 2nd against FAMU will offer the campaign’s first answers.
